  • J.F Barber, a tattoo artist and supplier from the early 1900s. He was the first tattoo artist to set up a supply shop in Cincinnati and advertised himself as “Professor J.F. Barber,” for  his promotional talents and artistic skills. His well-known Star machine was made of one piece strong grille steel and strong electromagnets. Due the ''smooth'' vibrations this strong machine could also be used for the finest work. Also, the spring is equipped with special contact point to provide a smooth flow of energy during its duty cycle.

  • For Sale! This old electro-magnetic mallet ("Electro-Magnetic Dental-Plugger") is designed by Arthur W. Browne, and John W. Gilbert. The Mallet has been manufactured around the 1890s. Its a dental tooth-filling device, used to drive gold, silver or amalgam into the cavity.. The Machanism of the mallet is a perfect reference to the modern tattoo machine.

  • From Lucas Collection. This old electro-magnetic mallet ("Electro-Magnetic Dental-Plugger") is designed by Arthur W. Browne, and John W. Gilbert. The Mallet has been manufactured around the 1890s. Its a dental tooth-filling device, used to drive gold, silver or amalgam into the cavity.. His electric pen was used to create multiple copies of a document by passing over the stencil at a rate approximate to 50 cycles per second perforating the layers below creating duplicates under the original.  The machaninc of the Edison perforator have the same components that you would see in telephones, door bells and even Morse code machines.  The first machine was credited to Southernland Macdonald whom predated Edison by a few years.
